ZipGenius 6.3.2.3110 Portable by Evan

Choosing a new compression tool for your operating system is pretty difficult, given the fact that everyone has a favorite developer already.

But once in a blue moon, a new product appears, and it holds something which is a bit different from what you have already gotten yourself used to.

In the world of compression tools, ZipGenius brings something new to the table, in comparison to its competitors (e.g. WinRar, WinZip).

Its interface is extremely user-friendly, and completely different from what we already know. The menu looks as if the software is actually integrated into Windows, and you have some clearly defined options.

You can create a new archive, open one, extract files from an archive, or send one via e-mail. If you are new to this environment, then this small software will make everything much easier for you to understand.

The actual compressing is done in a Command Prompter window. We love the fact that ZipGenius didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but rather take advantage of the simplicity of the situation.

When you choose to extract an archive, you can select all files, only selected files, or only files with a certain format. In Options you can set ZipGenius to ask before overwriting on existing files, as well as open the destination folder once the operation is a success.

Sending an archive via e-mail is done by using the default mail client of your computer (e.g. MS Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird).

It is also possible to backup files, convert an archive into a multi-volume archive, add comments to an archive etc.

ZipGenius is pretty fast, in comparison with other compression tools, but sometimes it takes a little while to perform a task. Also, CPU and memory usage is pretty high most of the times.
